Launch of new Degree Apprenticeship in management

The University of Brighton has launched a new Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship which will start in January 2017.

Degree Apprenticeships are jobs which incorporate relevant study with a university, and are part-funded by the government, which means they are highly cost effective for employers.

12 October 2016

CMDA at the University of Brighton

Designed for middle managers and those aspiring to management positions, The (CMDA) allows people of any age, who are working in a relevant job, to study part-time and achieve an honours degree from the University of Brighton.

Alongside the degree, successful students will also gain a Degree Apprenticeship and Chartered Member status of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The course studied as part of this apprenticeship is BSc(Hons) Professional Development in Business. It has been designed in collaboration with the Open University to be studied through blended learning, a mix of on-line study materials, webinars and physical workshops with content directly linked to the student’s job.

The apprenticeship is available on a fast-track route for those who already have a Foundation Degree or HND in business or a related area, or substantial relevant experience.

The CMDA apprenticeship starts in January 2017. In addition to the two-thirds government funding the University of Brighton has a limited number of extra grants available which will dramatically reduce the cost to employers, meaning the whole apprenticeship can cost as little as £600.

The University of Brighton also offers the Higher Apprenticeship in Healthcare and is looking to develop a portfolio of degree apprenticeships in collaboration with employers in the near future.

This model has been carefully designed around what employers have told us they need. I am delighted that the Business School has this innovative new course in our portfolio.
