Applying for a Clearing place without results

Places in Clearing are available for those who have already received their official results from the examination board. This year's arrangements, put in place by the government to support students completing their qualifications, might mean you receive provisional results from your teacher before the official exam results day on 14 August 2025.

It's important to understand that these results are unofficial until the examination board ratifies them. Universities will not be able to access official results until 14 August and so while you can apply now, there will be a long wait until any offer can be confirmed.

What can I do now?

This is an opportunity for you to take a breath and research your options carefully. You can also sign up for our Clearing emails to get updates and reminders from us.

Take a look at our Brighton student blog where our students tell their Brighton story, or read up on the course you are interested in.

If you have provisional grades and are sure you want to apply, you can apply now and we can make you an offer, however you won’t be able to accept it and we can’t confirm it until your results are official. If you do not have any grades at all yet, you will definitely have to wait until your official results day.

What if I appeal my grades?

Your official results will stand during any appeals process, and we will make Clearing offers based on them. If your results change after appeal, your offer may also change. This applies to all qualifications.

I'm still not sure what to do...

That's ok, if you're not sure you can give us a call. Our friendly team can advise you on the next steps you might take. Call us 01273 644000.

There is always someone who will talk to you and help make you feel at ease about your decision.
