Intro

Business analysts assess the performance of organisations’ processes, products, services and systems to help identify and implement solutions to business problems. Our Business Analyst CertHE is aimed at people wishing to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to begin a career in business analysis.

This Business Analyst CertHE course, which can be studied full-or-part-time, is a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ). HTQs  are approved against occupational standards decided by employers, so you can be sure that what you are learning is relevant to industry. You could be just starting out or maybe thinking about a career change, or want to upskill.

Working on real business case studies brings learning to life. You'll graduate with the knowledge to problem solve and to deliver business and digital change successfully. Our graduates are digitally literate with the confidence to apply their knowledge and work with teams across an organisation, as well as excellent communicators able to take the needs of stakeholders and the wider business context into account.

You'll take six modules during the course exploring subjects from databases to enterprise skills to business systems and operations.  The course is jointly delivered by the School of Business and Law, and the School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering.

Frequently asked questions

What are HTQs?

Level 4 and 5 qualifications such as CertHE, DipHE, HND or foundation degrees.

HTQs have been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) as meeting occupational standards for each sector. These are the same standards that are the basis for apprenticeships and T-levels.

At the moment, we are offering one-year CertHEs and two-year DipHEs. And along with all HTQs, our courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, so you'll get the training, knowledge and skills to succeed in the workplace.

Who are HTQs for?

Anyone over 18 who wants to study, especially if you are looking for a practical, employer-led programme! They are for students over 18 wishing to study and prepare for skilled jobs in a specific sector, and also for adults who are looking to develop their existing skills or to retrain for a new career.

How will I learn when studying an HTQ?

HTQs are mostly classroom based. This is where they differ from apprenticeships which are training on the job. They don't usually involve work placements but at Brighton you will learn practical skills in workshops, by working on project briefs, and through using our amazing facilities that simulate and replicate the equipment, software and scenarios you will find in the workplace.

Can I progress my education with an HTQ?

HTQs are designed to get you into skilled employment after graduation but if you decide to further your education you may be able to progress to further study or training.

Careers

Preparing for your career

In your career you need a combination of knowledge, skills, personal qualities and relevant experiences – and you’ll get all of this from your HTQ.

HTQs are developed with an industry standard that is approved by employers so you can be sure the skills and knowledge you graduate with are relevant to the workplace.

You'll take part in group work preparing you for confident collaboration at work, and you'll work on activities like business plans, project plans, problem-solving and statistical analysis using industry-standard tools and software.
