The entry requirements listed here are our typical offer for this course. They should be used as a general guide.
Degree and/or experience
- NMC registered nurse (level 1) or NMC registered midwife capable of safe and effective practice at the level of proficiency appropriate to the NMC-approved specialist community public health nurse (SCPHN) programme
- Normally hold a first degree
- Applicants are short-listed and subsequently interviewed jointly by academic staff and employers.

NMC approval for this new course is pending. As an NMC-regulated course, the modules have a practice element that is assessed in practice. If you wish to undertake one of these modules, either as a part of a course, or as stand-alone CPE, please contact the course leader before you apply to ensure that the appropriate practice assessor can be put in place.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each element. Find out more about the other English qualifications that we accept.
How to apply
This course starts in September. Applications are accepted in February of each year, which is also when the relevant application form is made available by the School of Sport and Health Sciences. The Trust and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will shortlist the applications and, if successfully shortlisted, your details will be forwarded to the university where you will be asked to complete an online application form and invited to interview.
Please note that it will not be possible to make an application to the university unless you have applied and been shortlisted. Any applications that do not meet this criteria cannot be considered.
Self-funding and non-NHS applicants
