Meet the Brighton graduate behind the Lionesses Euro 2025 artwork

Graphic Design graduate Jamie Eke scores big with bold, comic-style visuals that have captured the attention of fans, clubs, and national teams alike.

4 August 2025

Fresh off the back of the Lionesses’ recent, historic Euro 2025 victory over Spain, Jamie’s latest commission – a bespoke illustration for the team’s official channels – marks an exciting milestone in a career that began with a passion project created in his spare time.

That initial piece, a self-initiated comic-style football programme mock-up, quickly gained traction and caught the eye of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, leading to official commissions and an ever-growing portfolio.

Jamie’s distinctive style has now become synonymous with the Seagulls’ matchday experience. He has produced programme covers for Brighton & Hove Albion’s home fixtures, along with a series of Europa League posters that proved a huge hit – particularly with younger fans.

His unique illustrations have also been scaled up as murals in key areas of the club’s stadium, including the main concourse, the newly expanded megastore, and fan zone – the latter commissioned by American Express.

Beyond Brighton, Jamie’s client list has grown to include the Scotland national team, England Men’s and Women’s teams, and even international giants like Barcelona. He’s also worked with street art agency Murwalls – creators of large-scale murals for top names in sport and film – producing eye-catching work for England Rugby, including a comic-style tribute to the women’s team at Twickenham’s iconic Cabbage Patch pub.

What began as a local love letter to football has transformed into a full-time career, with commissions now arriving year-round – even during supposed “off-seasons.”

Reflecting on the journey, Jamie said: “It’s surreal to see where this has all gone – from sketching for fun to creating art for national teams and legends of the game. The Lionesses commission was a huge honour. Seeing them make history again this summer and then getting the call to create something to celebrate that moment... it’s everything I love about this work. It’s about energy, emotion, and connection with fans. And it all started at Brighton, where I really found my footing as a designer and felt part of a creative, collaborative space.”

“The graphic design course gave me the space to experiment and find my visual voice, but it was the creative environment – the people, the support, the shared studios – that really shaped how I work. I felt encouraged to take risks, to collaborate, to push ideas further.”

Jamie credits his time studying Graphic Design BA(Hons) at the University of Brighton with giving him the freedom to explore and grow. The university’s emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration allowed him to blend illustration and design, building a foundation that’s served him in the fast-paced world of sports media.

Professor Tamar Jeffers McDonald, Dean of the School of Art and Media, said: “We’re incredibly proud to see Jamie’s work resonate at both a national and international level. His creative journey embodies the kind of impact we aim to inspire in our students – a mix of talent, curiosity, and the courage to do things differently.”

Jamie’s work continues to be shaped by strong community partnerships and the power of local networking – from early collaborations with local football clubs to ongoing projects with Brighton-based creatives and organisations, including local restaurant Palmito.

Most recently, that same spirit of local connection sparked a collaboration with Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook) and The Modfather – a Brighton brand rooted in a deep love for music, vintage fashion, and classic Italian scooters – resulting in a limited-edition retro Brighton football shirt and collector’s box featuring Jamie’s signed illustration.

These connections reflect not just his own values, but also the University of Brighton’s long-standing emphasis on creative collaboration, community engagement, and building meaningful professional networks from the ground up.
