Sport Brighton Membership

Sport Brighton operates facilities at the University of Brighton Falmer and Moulsecoomb campuses. Membership covers use of both sites automatically. Moulsecoomb has a gym and studio. Falmer offers an extensive range of facilities including gym, studios and swimming pool. As well as the fitness facilities Falmer also has a range of indoor courts and outdoor pitches that can be hired with priority booking.

Our facilities are modern and feature high end equipment from leading brands such as Eleiko, Technogym and Hammer Strength. Our gyms feature a minimum of 6 squat racks at both our sites. We offer flexibility with our monthly direct debits with no joining or exit fees. Included in all membership packages are our classes and priority booking rights.

About

Memberships provide a range of gym and fitness access at our Moulsecoomb and Falmer facilities. We offer flexibility with our monthly direct debits with no joining or exit fees. Also available are shorter term fixed price memberships. Included in all membership packages are access to our classes and priority booking rights. 

We offer membership pricing based on your status as a student, staff or local community member. Within each of these categories you can choose from: 

  • Off Peak Gym and Fitness (no gym access after 3pm on weekday evenings)
  • Peak Gym and Fitness (access during all opening times)
  • Swim Only (scheduled lane swim access at our pool in Falmer)
  • All Inclusive (includes gym, swim, classes and priority booking)
  • 24 Hour Pass (all inclusive membership for 24 hours)
  • One Week Pass (one week inclusive membership)
  • One Month Pass (one month inclusive membership)

Sport Brighton closes its Falmer site on bank holidays. Both sites have a closure periods over Christmas and New Year as well as occasional operational close downs where necessary.

Student

Available to all current University of Brighton or Brighton and Sussex Medical School students. Our flexible membership options can work around your placements and periods away from campus. We offer a fantastic value membership at the heart of the Falmer and Moulsecoomb campuses. Login to our system using your exisiting university user id (e.g. ab123) and password to access these exclusive prices.

  • Off Peak Gym and Fitness: £18 (no gym access after 3pm on weekday evenings)
  • Swim Only: £18
  • Peak Gym and Fitness: £22
  • All Inclusive: £32

Prices - Fixed Term

  • 24 hour pass: £10
  • One week all inclusive: £22

Purchase a student membership

Non-member University of Brighton students can swim on a pay as you go basis for £3.50.

Swim Only membership includes just access to Lane Swim sessions (booking required and subject to availability), classes and priority booking. 

Direct Debit: You will be charged the remainder of the current month and the following month on initial sign up before payments are taken out on the 1st of the month for the month after that.

Staff

Available to all current University of Brighton or Brighton and Sussex Medical School staff. Our flexible membership options can work around you. We offer a fantastic value membership at the heart of the Falmer and Moulsecoomb campuses. Direct Debit: You will be charged the remainder of the current month and the following month on initial sign up before payments are taken out on the 1st of the month for the month after that.

Community

Available to anyone 16 or over. We offer a fantastic value membership to the local community. Membership covers access to both our Falmer and Moulsecoomb facilities (pool is located at Falmer only). Simply set up an online account to access these memberships.

Further member information


Classes

All our memberships include access to our class programme. You can book up to 7 days in advance. Just ensure if you need to cancel you do so with 2 hours notice to avoid charges.

Fitness support

Looking for support in the gym? We offer both personal training with our qualified instructors or we can do a consultation and write you a fitness programme linked to your goals. 

Facility hire

As a member you can book our facilities up to 7 days in advance. Access our courts and pitches to play with non-member friends (limits apply). From a badminton court to a basketball ring its a great way to keep active.


Timetabled swims

Enjoy a swim in our 25m pool at Falmer. Anyone can access our lane swim times. Swim only and all inclusive members have these included. Other memberships can pay as you go and get priority booking.

Free parking

As a Sport Brighton user you can access the University of Brighton car parks for free when visiting us. Ensure you put your car details in the tablet on arrival for 2 hours free parking.

Cancel your membership

We don't want to see you go but if you do need to cancel your membership then just complete our short Direct Debit Cancellation form.

Frequently asked questions

  • If you are a member on our monthly payment option you can cancel your membership and payments by completing the cancelation form. Please ensure you do this prior to the 26th of the month for it to take effect before the next payment is due to come out. Please also cancel direct with your bank. Please note that cancellations cannot be accepted verbally, either in person or over the phone.

  • We do not currently offer membership freezes or pauses.

    However, if you are unable to use your membership for medical reasons, we may be able to arrange a medical freeze or cancellation. Requests must be supported by appropriate documentation and will be assessed individually by our Health and Fitness Manager.

  • Yes all our gym and fitness memberships give access to both our sites.

    • Falmer Campus – Sport and Health Centre
    • Moulsecoomb Campus – Gym Facility

    Swim only users can use classes on both sites although we only have pool facilities at Falmer. If you are using a site for the first time you may need to ask reception to validate your card for access to the gym.

  • We do not currently offer guest passes.

    However, friends and family can access our facilities on a pay-as-you-go basis, including gym sessions and fitness classes.

    We occasionally run promotions and events that include free trial passes, so keep an eye out around campus and at our facilities.

    • In person at reception

    If you need assistance, our staff will be happy to help.

  • Both sites offer up to 2 hours of free parking per day for gym and fitness users.

    To activate your free parking, you must register your vehicle on the tablets provided within our facilities. Please speak to a member of staff if you need assistance.

  • Once you have purchased your membership, please visit reception at either site.

    Our team will activate your account and help you get started with facility access and any other membership queries.

  • Benefits vary depending on your membership type.

  • Community Members

    If you forget your membership card, please speak to reception and our team will assist you with accessing the facility.

    Students and Staff

    If you forget your UniCard, unfortunately you will not be able to access the facilities.

    As a condition of receiving a student or staff membership and associated discounts, a valid UniCard must be presented for entry. You will need to:

    • Return with your UniCard
    • Obtain a replacement UniCard through University Services
    • Acquire a temporary University pass

    Once you have valid identification, we will be happy to grant access to the facilities.

  • Yes. Sport Brighton facilities are open to both University of Brighton students and staff, as well as members of the public aged 16 and over.

  • The swimming pool is available for lane swims and family swims at selected times throughout the day.

    Availability varies due to school bookings, swimming lessons and club activities. Please check the latest timetable on our website. 

  • No. We offer a range of pay-as-you-go options, including:

    • Gym passes
    • Fitness classes
    • Swimming sessions
    • Court hire
    • Pitch hire

    This allows you to use our facilities without committing to a membership.

  • No. Court and pitch hire are separate services and are not included within gym or swimming memberships. Members do get access to priority booking rights.

  • The minimum age to join and use our gym facilities is 16 years old.
