Nursing and midwifery degrees

Additional funding support

Specialist facilities

You'll have access to modern facilities, including our clinical skills and simulation suites, clinical skills rooms, midwifery simulation ward and community flat. We've recently redeveloped the facilities on our Falmer campus.

Placements and practice learning

To ensure you can confidently apply theory to practice, you will spend around half of your studies in practice-related activities. This includes practice placements with local NHS trusts and other health and social care providers across Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

We are committed to providing a global perspective for nursing and midwifery degree course students and also offer international placements which are academically credited.

A flexible career

Our courses offer an excellent foundation for working in a range of health contexts, in both hospital and community settings, and for further professional development in clinical practice, education, management and research.

Interprofessional learning

Just like in the real world you'll spend time with students on our other health courses. You'll share learning, knowledge and expertise benefiting from interprofessional collaboration and preparing for work in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Accreditation

Our courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You'll graduate with eligibility to apply for registration as a nurse or midwife with the NMC and be entitled to practice anywhere in the UK.

What jobs could I do with a nursing or midwifery degree?

With a nursing or midwifery degree, you could work as a registered nurse or midwife. Registered nurses (RNs) and midwives provide medical care to patients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics and private practices. Here's some more job roles you could enter after a university course:
