Nursing Associate is a new role introduced to the healthcare workforce within the nursing team. The role was designed to bridge the gap between Healthcare Assistants and Registered Nurses, working together to deliver high quality care for patients and the public.
Underpinned by evidence based practice and in partnership with public and private healthcare organisations, our Nursing Associate Apprenticeship is an ideal grounding for those looking to develop and enhance their healthcare practice. Successful apprentices will achieve the University of Brighton’s Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care Practice as well as the Nursing Associate (NMC 2018) Apprenticeship, and will be eligible to apply for Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
Our innovative, day-release programme is an opportunity for employers of all sizes to develop the workforce within their organisations and improve patient care. The programme will enable apprentices to practice in a wide range of settings and includes external placements.
Potential apprentices must be employed in a healthcare setting before applying for this apprenticeship. Be sure to read our full guidance page before applying for this apprenticeship.
Employers would need to ensure their employees had a current Disclosure and Barring Service check, and were cleared through an Occupational Health Screening, prior to commencement of the course.
There is also guidance about the need for ongoing engagement with the School of Health Sciences, to enable eligibility with the Nursing & Midwifery Council requirement to be an NMC Approved Employer.
