We're 8th in the UK for education courses (Guardian University Guide 2023), in the top 20 in the UK (The Times League Tables, 2023) and in the top 20 in England (Complete University Guide, 2022).

Our part-time courses are aimed at professional practitioners working in formal and informal education, learning, and development settings who want to develop their academic and research skills. These courses allows you to study for a degree while you are working.

Postgraduate degrees

Our Education MA is designed to take your learning and career to the next stage. It also provides a comprehensive foundation for further study at doctoral level and high-level research-based and research-informed practice.

Our education research generates knowledge that advances social justice and fosters critical understanding of learning and teaching in diverse cultures and complex worlds.

We help shape future directions in practice and policy locally, nationally and internationally. We carry out innovative and participatory research and enterprise projects involving children, young people, adults, and those who work with them.

Take a tour of our facilities

Our specialist Curriculum Centre on the Falmer campus houses more than 30,000 resources, spanning all the subjects in the national curriculum. The collection includes games, DVDs, CD-ROMs, pictures, charts, education packs and an extensive collection of children’s books.

The Falmer library also houses an extensive array of literature and resources related to education studies.

After graduation

Education studies at Brighton significantly enhances prospects, opening doors to further study as well as professional employment. 100% of our Early Childhood Education and Care graduates go on to work or further study within 15 months after the course (Graduate Outcomes Survey).

Many of our undergraduate students choose to stay with us after graduation, securing places on our PGCE and MA course as the next step towards their career in education.
