My degree set me up for a career in fitness on many levels. I became a personal trainer and athletic strength and conditioning coach and have worked around the world. My degree not only gave me an academic qualification but also the practical skills and knowledge that prepared me for my career in the sports industry.

You'll benefit from access to our BASES-accredited lab facilities, which include a biomechanics lab, environmental chamber and physiology labs. We also have extensive sports facilities on our Eastbourne campus, including a swimming pool, two gyms, an artificial training pitch and dance studios.

You'll build your professional experience through placement and volunteering opportunities with local, national and international sports organisations.

The laboratory facilities at the Eastbourne campus include a biomechanics lab, an environmental chamber, exercise physiology labs and a biochemistry lab. The labs have featured in many TV programmes and help athletes prepare for the Olympics and Paralympics.

Our sports performance hub houses the most up-to-date aerobic testing machines, together with resistance exercise testing equipment that combines sports analysis and training. It includes lifting platforms, an indoor plyometrics track and a three-camera system to allow for performance analysis and rapid feedback to the athlete. We've also just opened a new teaching gym which features the latest weight-training and exercise equipment.

Eastbourne sport facilities include a climbing wall, 36-station fitness suite, a six court sports hall, a 25m swimming pool, two gymnasiums, an artificial outdoor pitch and dance studios. There are plenty of opportunities to take part in sport and exercise outside of your course both competitively and just for fun.
