Building the Future with Degree Apprenticeships - online conference

Join the University of Brighton during National Apprenticeship Week, as we explore how higher and degree apprenticeships can help organisations to develop their future workforce efficiently.

Speakers on the day will include existing employer partners, academic staff and our dedicated apprenticeships advisors to help your organisation make the most of apprenticeships, as it continue to adapt in a challenging environment.

Talk to us and get answers to your questions including:

  • How much does an apprenticeship cost the business?
  • Is it easy to arrange funding?
  • What bonuses might my business receive?

The success of our apprentices, both academically and in the workplace, has highlighted the benefits of learning alongside the practical application of knowledge in a real job role.

Apprenticeships play an important role in the government's skills strategy and there are a range of incentives available to support employers.

Business and Management

ACCA Professional Accountant Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is aligned with the professional ACCA qualification. Over the four-year programme apprentices will develop an advanced understanding of the theory and practice of financial reporting, performance management, taxation, financial management, assurance and corporate governance, and ethics, together with organisational leadership and professional skills.

Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Data Analytics) Masters Degree Apprenticeship

Developed in collaboration with data-driven organisations including Statistical Analysis System (SAS), this programme enables apprentices to become data specialists with the ability to effectively structure, analyse and gain insight from a wide range of complex data.

Senior Leader Masters Degree Apprenticeship

This programme is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the only chartered body in the field of management and leadership. Designed by employers and delivered by industry experts, this apprenticeship is an opportunity for experienced professionals and those aspiring to senior management to achieve an accredited Chartered Management Institute (CMI) qualification.

Construction and the Built Environment

Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship

Designed in liaison with employers and delivered by experienced staff and industry experts, this accredited programme of study will equip apprentices with the knowledge and skills to become competent and innovative civil engineers. The Degree Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering has been developed in line with the guidance provided by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM).

Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship (Quantity Surveying and Project Management or Building Surveying)

Developed in consultation with industry, this programme develops knowledge and skills valued by employers. The teaching will be delivered by active academic staff who are currently undertaking research or consultancy with leading bodies, with specialist aspects of the curriculum reflecting this. Upon completion, apprentices will be equipped with the necessary knowledge to attend the RICS Assessment of Professional competence (APC) to register as a chartered member of RICS.

This new programme is in the final stages of development and small changes may occur.

Chartered Town Planner Masters Degree Apprenticeship

Delivered by industry experts this apprenticeship develops the understanding, skills and professional experience necessary to give apprentices a concrete grounding in the local and global issues affecting urban planning in the twenty-first century.

Construction Site Management Degree Apprenticeship

The aim of this programme is to work with employers to fill higher level skills gaps by providing extra training and enabling progression within the workforce. The need for this is recognised in a Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) report. The same report also identified that more than one third of workers actively want to advance in the industry and 6 out of 10 workers recognise that they will require more training and qualifications in order to do so.  The apprenticeship will be accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve Chartered Construction Manager status with the CIOB.

This new programme is in the final stages of development and small changes may occur.

Health and Social Care

Advanced Clinical Practitioner Masters Degree Apprenticeship

This multi-profession programme is open to all experienced registered healthcare professionals wishing to develop their career at masters level, and be at the forefront of advancing their field of practice. The programme offers an opportunity for health and social care employers to develop expertise and talent throughout their organisation.

Assistant Practitioner Higher Apprenticeship

Designed to support the health and social care workforce, this programme offers a flexible mix of skills required to support registered practitioners in a wide range of settings, working together to deliver high-quality care for patients and the public. Apprentices will develop additional skills and knowledge based on their employer's requirements depending on the clinical or professional areas within which they are working.

Diagnostic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship

This programme has been developed in line with high demand for qualified practitioners across the healthcare sector, including in hospitals, community and private settings. The focus on interdisciplinary learning across all our health programmes will enrich apprentices experience which is further enhanced by the work-based learning.

Approval by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the College of Radiographers for this new programme is pending. This new programme is in the final stages of development and small changes may occur.

Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship

Underpinned by evidence-based practice and in partnership with public and private healthcare organisations, this apprenticeship is an ideal grounding for those looking to develop and enhance their healthcare practice.

Occupational Therapist Degree Apprenticeship

Taught by experts in both public and private healthcare organisations, this Degree Apprenticeship produces occupational therapists who have advanced theoretical knowledge, are autonomous, reflective, ethical and fit for practice.

Podiatry Degree Apprenticeship

On this programme apprentices will study the core areas necessary for professional practice: the clinical sciences, health psychology, medicine, pharmacology, surgery, orthopaedics and research methods. Apprentices will demonstrate contemporary knowledge and understanding of the key scientific, biopsychosocial and clinical principles relevant to people with foot and lower limb pathology.

Social Work Degree Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship integrates the professional and educational requirements needed to qualify and practice as a Social Worker. The programme enables apprentices to develop their knowledge of social work and social science theory, and apply this knowledge critically to inform practice. The University of Brighton's Head of Department for Social Work was a member of the Institute for Apprenticeships Trailblazer Group for the Integrated Social Work Degree and remains involved in national and local discussions and consultations.

Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship has pathways into qualification for registered status as a Child, Adult or Mental Health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. We will support apprentices in becoming a caring and compassionate professional who delivers skilled, evidence-based care in partnership with patients, families and communities. Our focus on interdisciplinary enriches apprentices experience whilst preparing them for professional practice.

Education

Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship

Designed by experienced educators and researchers, this apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity to turn passion into practical, fantastic teaching. By blending part-time university study with work-based learning this programme makes the most of the academic timetable to give apprentices the practical skills they need to become amazing teachers. This programme enables schools to support their experienced staff or recruit new talent, in taking the next big step on their journey to becoming classroom practitioners.

When I’m studying at university I’m learning things that directly relate to what I’m doing at work.

It is clear from the early stages of the programme, Frankie's participation has had a positive impact. It has assisted her clear thinking and sharp, strategic prioritisation in her approach to both her apprenticeship assignments and the day to day demands of her job. Her discussions and learning have combined to assist her focus even more on immediate tasks in hand. This has made Frankie more resilient and able to cope even more comfortably with the really tough work challenges she has handled.
