MRes courses are typically a blend of taught or supervised training in discipline-specific research skills, coupled with a significant research project.
Our MRes courses are normally completed full-time in one year, but can be taken part-time over two years. The courses are structured to include a significant research component and supporting taught modules. Students are often aiming to progress to a PhD application or into employment that has a research element.
For many disciplines it provides a short and carefully structured experience towards higher-level research study, with options of academic networks and memberships similar to (and often alongside) fellow students studying for MPhil and PhD.
