With an emphasis on applied learning you'll put theory in to practice using our specialist facilities, and learn alongside leading researchers and professional biomedical scientists.

Postgraduate degrees

We offer masters of research courses in biomedical science and related courses. Our MRes courses offer an advanced understanding of different approaches to research in your chosen area of specialism.

You'll work on your project under the supervision of an academic member of staff and work within one or more of our research groups, including the Centre for Stress Ageing and Chronic Disease and the Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Devices.

Practical experience

Put your learning into practice through project work, hospital visits and case studies, and using our specialist facilities that include electron, confocal and atomic force microscopes; microbiology lab; cell/tissue culture lab; genomics/proteomics facility.

Paid placements

Undertaking your placement in an accredited NHS training lab allows you to work towards the IBMS Certificate of Competence and the Registration Portfolio, key to becoming a registered biomedical scientist.

Other placement opportunities prepare you for work in a range of scientific areas and postgraduate research.
