Architecture and design degrees

At Brighton we take a socially-conscious, sustainable and collaborative approach. On our architecture and design courses we'll encourage you to find your own creative voice and explore design in context; to reimagine and contribute to society and the world we live in.

Postgraduate degrees in architecture

To be able to register as an architect you need to complete three stages of your studies: RIBA parts 1, 2 and 3. 

On successful completion of your Architecture BA(Hons) degree you are awarded RIBA Part 1. This enables you to progress to the RIBA Part 2, our MArch course, at postgraduate level which you can also study with us at Brighton, continuing on your path to becoming a qualified architect.

Postgraduate degrees in design

Our Interior Design MA is designed to promote interdisciplinary research and practice: we are looking to develop creative collaborations between fine artists, designers, architects and thinkers.

Professional accreditation

Our Architecture BA(Hons), Architecture RIBA Part 2 MArch and Management, Practice and Law (RIBA Part 3) are accredited by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

Our Product Design BSc(Hons) is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).

The course focuses on sustainability and how climate change is affecting the world and forcing change in society and how we evolve. By understanding how the world is changing and what has happened we can develop a positive connection between people, environment and buildings.

Supporting your creativity

Your ideas can be explored, created and manufactured using specialist facilities and modelling workshops. Skilled technicians are a vital part of the studio community, on hand to support your making and ideas. They are practising artists, designers and PhD students so they know exactly where you are coming from.

Gain real-world experience working on live briefs and projects and benefit from expertise shared by staff and industry practitioners.

Our links with RIBA South East include opportunities for mentoring and mock interviews with practising architects for our architecture students.

Design studio collaboration

You’ll learn in a design studio environment reflecting professional practice. Second – and third-year students share studio space fostering a dynamic, creative work environment. You’ll work on design projects in the studio giving you opportunities to explore ideas, and share learning and experience with your peers.
