Your portfolio
Your portfolio is the most important part of your application for this course.
Your grades do matter so you’ll still need to work hard but they’re not the only thing we take into account. Every application is considered individually. Even if your predicted or actual grades are below our usual range, we will review your application if your portfolio shows high-quality work and demonstrates your thinking and abilities.
A-levels BBB–BCC.
BTEC Extended Diploma DDM–MMM.
UCAS tariff 120–104 points.

Art foundation diploma Pass. A foundation diploma is not a requirement for entry – it is just one of a range of qualifications that is accepted for admission to this course.
International Baccalaureate 30 points, with three subjects at Higher level.
UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma Merit
Access to HE diploma Pass with 60 credits overall. Art and design courses preferred. At least 45 credits at level 3, and 30 credits must be at merit or above.

Studied before or got relevant experience?
If you have suitable qualifications, credits from a previous university course or relevant professional experience these could count towards your course at Brighton and you could start the course in year 2 or 3.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language, IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each element. Find out about the other English qualifications that we accept.

Admission to this course includes a review of your portfolio. This helps us to see your potential and understand how you think, create and explore ideas. We want to see your passion and curiosity – not just your finished work.

Sharing your portfolio
Once you have applied and received details on how to activate your University of Brighton username and password, you can log on to Student View and share your portfolio link. Please make sure we can access this link without a password or login.

Contextual admissions
At Brighton, we understand that not everyone has the same opportunities, and some may face extra challenges to meet grade requirements. Every Brighton applicant is treated as an individual and we value creativity, persistence, resourcefulness and big ideas alongside grades.
If you meet our contextual admissions criteria, your offer from us will be at least two grades or 16 UCAS tariff points lower than the standard for your course.
